Students' Ministry

The Source - Junior/Senior High School Ministry

Mission: To preach and model the gospel of Jesus Christ to junior and senior high school students, so that students are transformed by the gospel’s power to bring this message of forgiveness and reconciliation in words and deeds to their classmates, communities and the world, to the glory of God.

Purpose: To serve students and their parents by directing them to the life-giving message of Christ’s gospel and its implications for all of life.

Core Values

1. Gospel-Centered- We believe that there is one message in this life that transforms and reconciles teenagers to God: the gospel of Jesus Christ. We seek to explain, discuss, study and live by the central message of the gospel as taught in the Bible, to the glory of God. As the gospel is preached and taught we strive to bring its connections out to every area of life. (Galatians 2:14; Colossians 2:6; Ephesians 4:1)

2. Outward-Faced- This youth ministry continually looks outward to our family, neighbors, teammates and schoolmates. We look outside our ministry to bring the life-giving message of the gospel to all people in our communities. This means we seek to welcome all into our group regardless of class, race, poor or rich and any other cultural standard. (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Matthew 5:14-16)

3. Parent-Support- We acknowledge that parents have the primary role of raising their children. We acknowledge that students are under the authority of their parents, not the staff. This means that staff members will not seek to replace the parents’ role in raising their children. We proactively support parents in their task by offering counseling and other aides to the overall health of the family. (Ephesians 6:1-4; Ephesians 4:11-16)

4. Training-Focused- We endeavor to train the next generation of students to be humble missionaries to their communities. This ministry actively encourages service to each other and the church body according to their giftedness. As each student serves and recognizes their personal grace-gift, the ministry staff comes alongside to train in their development. (Psalm 78:4; 1 Peter 4:10-11)

5. Biblical-Worldview- This ministry teaches students to understand life through God’s Mission in the World. We seek to come under the Mission of God as revealed in the Bible in all aspects of life. We endeavor to teach and model in such areas as manhood and womanhood, race relations, mercy ministries, marriage and culture. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:3)
